I'm Just Being Ethical (in my Future voice)

Ethics: A system of MORAL PRINCIPLES

NAEYC

P-2.6  As families share information with us about their children and families, we shall consider this information to plan and implement the program.

As a parent of a child with special needs this is important to me because my child was nonverbal until the age of 6.  At that time she only spoke a few words.  They wanted to use a speaking device with her at school but we were not going to use it at home.  They changed her education plan to be consistent with what she was doing at home.

I-3B.2  To do nothing that diminishes the reputation of the program in which we work unless it is violating laws and regulations designed to protect children or is violating the provisions of the Code.

We have to watch what is said in public about your work place.  We never know who is at the next table and you are representing the company with negativity.

3.  We shall honor and  respect the diverse backgrounds of our colleagues including such diverse characteristics as sexual orientation, race, national origin, religious beliefs, and other affiliations.

Everyone has a different perspective or beliefs.  This does not make you right and them wrong its is just different.  Sometimes we have to sit back and pay attention to others.  We just may learn a thing or two.

I think being aware and respecting the diffrences and beliefs of your students and their families. This will help them feel welcome in your program.
